The GDPR states that organisations must provide staff awareness training and education. If you are reported or suffer a data breach, it’s possible the supervisory authority (the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office) in the UK) will want to see records of your staff training programme. It is crucial that staff understand the GDPR, and are aware of the key changes and how the Regulation affects them and the way they work. With significant fines stipulated for non-compliance, organisations must not overlook this key requirement.
